Like a lot of people, I met Jake and Jeanne during my service with the U.S. Coast Guard. I had the pleasure of serving with Jake (and Jeanne) while we were stationed at Coast Guard Base/Group Ketchikan, Alaska. Jake was my boss, but he and Jeanne quickly became my friends. In fact, I often think that Jake and Jeanne adopted me. With over 30 years of Coast Guard service, I had the pleasure of working with some truly great people, but Jake was the best. Jeanne I know you are waiting for Jake, and he will be along later, but for now he has rare birds to find and photograph. God bless you all. ❤️❤️

Many years ago, in the USCG, Maureen and I left for the hospital to deliver out second child. Jeanne and Jake were there to take care of our first son without even being asked and without question. We lost that child, and Jeanne was an immense help as was Jake in navigating issues with the Coast Guard for burial, etc. We can never thank them enough, will never forget their kindness at an hour of need, and will always hold them in our hearts. And we mean ALWAYS. We will miss Jeanne but these memories will always keep her alive in our hearts. She was the best.
