I first met Dick about 16 years ago. Dick and Joan welcomed me into their home, while my parents and I were visiting, and we had the most wonderful time! We hung out at the pool almost every day, we found the coolest lady at the flea market named Muffee, and we all went and sang karaoke and danced the night away at her show. I will always remember Dick singing "Hey Good Lookin" to Joan up on stage, and seeing that look of adoration on his face as he serenaded his bride. I was never brave enough to sing karaoke, but Dick had no fear, and was always up for a good time!
Over the years, we as a family shared so many wonderful memories. We visited the Space Needle, drove up to Mount Rainier, as well as shared many Christmases and milestones together. No matter what was going on, Dick was always willing to be there for his family. He was a family first man, family was his life. Dick always accepted me for me, as he did with everybody else he met. He treated me as though I had been his granddaughter since the day I was born, and I am so thankful to have had so many wonderful years with him in my life.
I will miss the peace and lightheartedness that Dick brought with him wherever he went. I will miss having him home for the holidays, and I will miss his spirit and warm heart.
I love you Grandpa Pete, life isn't the same without you. Someday I'll be up there singing and dancing with you!
Love Always,
Aurora
