Alfred Joseph Palumbo
January 16, 1933 - February 25, 2022
Alfred Joseph Palumbo passed away at the age of 89 on February 25, 2022. He is survived by his wife of 66 years Patricia, two sons Alfred Jr. (Candace) and Paul (Lisa), two daughters Kimberly and Lori, his loving sister Frances, grandchildren Christopher, Katie, Dominick, Amber, Gabriel, Bret, Matthew, Paul and Katharine, great grandchildren Lilyana, Nicholas, Amaiya, and Isabella, nieces, nephews, and cousins whom he loved and cherished with all of his heart. Al was born and raised in Brooklyn New York. In 1952 he graduated from the State University of New York, then served in the United States Army as an SP 3 in guided missile repair. Al began his 43 year career with General Electric in Schenectady, New York, and relocated to the Hendersonville, TN plant prior to his retirement. Al was an avid sportsman. He played in numerous table tennis tournaments and was a member of many local table tennis and pickle ball teams. He was a very active participant and member of the Good Life Games. He would ride his age every year on his bicycle, 88 miles on his 88th birthday. Al was very active in volunteer work including Meals On Wheels and transporting patients to the hospital for procedures. Al and Pat hosted a weekly sunset meet and greet at On Top of The World. Al's friends and family will miss him. We will hold him in our hearts for the rest of our days. A funeral mass will be held at Espiritu Santo Catholic Church in Safety Harbor at 10:00 am on Friday, March 11, 2022. Patricia will receive friends at home from 1 to 3 pm the same day for anyone wishing to stop by. Light snacks, soda, and water will be available. When I come to the end of the road And the sun has set for me I want no rites in a gloom-filled room. Why cry for a soul set free? Miss me a little–but not too long And not with your head bowed low. Remember the love that we once shared, Miss me–but let me go. For this is a journey that we all must take And each must go alone. It's all a part of the Master's plan, A step on the road to home. When you are lonely and sick of heart Go to the friends we know And bury your sorrows in doing good deeds. Miss Me–But Let me Go!
