Columbia Marino Elli, 100, passed away peacefully at her home in Katy, Texas on April 13, 2021. She was born in 1920 in Charleroi, Pennsylvania, and her early years were spent there. She moved to Ford City, PA. at the age of eleven and completed high school there, graduating in 1938. She received a Registered Nursing certification in 1942 at Cleveland General and St. Luke's Hospital of the Methodist Episcopal Church in Cleveland, Ohio. Columbia began her nursing career at the D.T. Watson Home for Crippled Children in Sewickley, PA. From there she took a position at Allegheny Hospital in Tarentum, PA. She then began work as a nurse in the Veterans Administration, left to raise her family, and then returned to the VA for a total career of 29 years of dedicated, professional service to our veterans. She enjoyed spending time with her family. Columbia was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother, great grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt and friend. Columbia took special care and delight in staying in touch with her extended family and friends. She firmly believed her greatest accomplishments were her family and her service as a nurse. Columbia was preceded in death by her husband Paul, parents Angelo and Teresa Marino, sisters Elgisa Riskosky, Elda Zell, Josephine Emerick, Beatrice Marino, and brothers Gabriel and John Marino. She is survived by her children, Teresa (Herbert Stout), Paula (Donald) Campbell, and Matthew (Dawnell Graham).
