Frankie Joyce Hartman
October 14, 1934 - April 12, 2022
Frankie Joyce Hartman passed away peacefully on April 12, 2022 at the age of 87. Joyce was born in west Texas but grew up in a small farming community in the Central Valley of California. She moved with her family to Southern California after high school, and started her adult life there, where she first married and raised her daughter. She married a second time and spent 32 happy years in the mountains of Northern California with her husband Ray. Joyce loved spending her time doing arts and crafts, including stained glass and ceramics. Always active, she enjoyed camping, fishing, and tending to her home and gardens. She and Ray joined the local Shrine RV club and spent good times road-tripping and making new friends over many years. She enjoyed rural living on the gravel road she named the "Good-Bad Road" until her husband passed and she experienced a very long winter with no electricity and 12 feet of snow. It was then she agreed to move to Florida to be near her daughter's family. Joyce remained a country girl at heart, but she adjusted to Florida winters pretty well and especially loved spending time with her grandson. She was also the lucky one in the family. If there was a prize to be won, she was the one to win, whether by games of chance or of skill. Her favorite sport was baseball, and her music was country. Her theme song was "God is great, beer is good, people are crazy". Joyce was preceded in death by her husband Raymond D. Hartman of Fort Jones, California; two brothers Lendon Whitworth and Norman Whitworth, both of California. She is survived by her daughter Pamela (Scott) Samaniego and her grandson Reid Samaniego all of Palm Harbor, Florida; sister Velda Boatman of Clovis, California; brother Fred Whitworth of Erie, Illinois; and many loving cousins and extended family. Service will be held at Bay Pines National Cemetery in St. Petersburg, Florida on Monday, May 9, 2022 at 12:30pm.
