John Edward Skukalek

May 9, 1930 - February 14, 2022

John Edward Skukalek, 91, of Tampa, FL passed away on February 14th, 2022. He was born on May 9th, 1930, in Ford City, PA to the late John A. & Mary (Charney) Skukalek. John grew up in Ford City, PA attending Holy Trinity Grade School and Ford City High School graduating in 1949. His Ford City High School Basketball team played in the Pennsylvania state championship game in 1948. He served in the Unites States Air Force from 1951 to 1955. His love for airplanes spanned from building and flying model airplanes as a child to his service in the USAF and then back to model airplanes later in life. He also loved dancing to big band music and could really cut a rug. “If you learn how to dance you will always have a date” he told his sons. John was an extremely talented and artistic craftsman. He used his talent along with 26 years of experience working at Pittsburgh Plate Glass Company to build a unique successful glass business in Florida in the 1970’s known for its ability to do unrivaled high end specialty glass and mirror work. John was a devout catholic. His family always came first, and there is nothing he enjoyed more than spending time with them. There would always be lots of laughing because of his great sense of humor. He is survived by his loving wife Louise, his sister Mary Ann Gribik, his brother-in-law Bill Cayavec, his children John Skukalek (Barb), David Skukalek (Dorothy), Michelle Ockerman (Craig), Gary Skukalek, Thomas Skukalek and Diane Coon, 14 grand Children and 15 (soon to be 16) great grandchildren. Visitation will be held at Moss Feaster Funeral Home, 693 S. Belcher Rd. Clearwater, FL on Monday, February 21st from 2:30-4 PM. A Funeral Mass will be held at Light of Christ Catholic Church, 2176 Marilyn St. Clearwater, FL on Tuesday, February 22nd at 10 AM with burial to follow at Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
