Thomas Otto Scharfschwerdt

Thomas Otto Scharfschwerdt, 57, of Largo, FL passed away Monday, February 7, 2022. He was born January 10, 1965, in West Palm Beach, FL to William Richard Scharfschwerdt and JoAnn Studstill Scharfschwerdt. Otto was a devoted father to his two sons, Daniel age 21, and Michael age 19, who he loved more than anything. He was always there for everyone in his large extended family, and for his neighbors and colleagues at work. His cheerful nature and infectious smile were a God given gift that brought sunshine to all who knew him. He was one of the friendliest people on earth and had the unique ability to engage with even strangers and turn them into friends in a matter of minutes. He was passionate about many things including politics and current affairs about which he kept himself very well informed. He loved the outdoors, boating, fishing, camping out and a fun day on the beach. He enjoyed backyard gardening and keeping in touch with all whom he knew and loved. His final career was at Suncoast Chrysler Jeep Dodge Ram in Seminole, Florida where he loved his work and work mates. Otto is preceded in death by many relatives in addition to his parents including sadly, quite recently, his oldest nephew Robert Stephen Ryder, Jr. He is survived by his fiancé, Dianne Chesney; 2 sons, Daniel Thomas, Michael Steven; siblings, Jim and Sandee Ryder Pruitt, Rodolfo and Linda Milani, Susan Scharfschwerdt Huszagh, William R. and Margaret Scharfschwerdt, Jr, Steven and JoAnn "Jody" Strickland, Jack Edward and Bonnie Scharfschwerdt, a maternal Aunt and Uncle Frankye and Tom Oiver of Waco Texas, 16 nieces and nephews, and 38 first cousins. Otto will leave a huge space in the hearts and lives of us all. Please join us on Friday evening, February 18th for a viewing and wake followed by a Saturday Funeral beginning at 10:00AM ending with a celebration of his life at Largo Cemetery.
