John Patrick Moran, 90, of Dunedin, passed away April 24, 2025. He is deeply missed by his loving family and friends. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm on Saturday May 3, 2025 at Moss Feaster Funeral Home, Dunedin Chapel. Read Obituary
When I was a teenager and he was visiting Ireland, Pat gave me a hug that I remember to this day. I'm transgender, and another relative was intentionally misgendering me, so Pat spoke directly to me and made sure I knew he saw me and accepted who I was as his niece, saying it loudly so everyone could hear. I had to go catch a bus to meet some friends, but I lingered as he held me so warmly and lovingly and it made me feel safe. He slipped me some money to treat myself, too, because he was just like that haha. He could be so sweet. We didn't meet very often in my life but I will always appreciate that kindness and love. I can still feel the hug and his protection when I think about him
Uncle Pat
A kind generous man , a true gent in every sense.
He carried with him the spirit of the Irish in everything he did.
Our many visits to "Margaret Avenue" both Aunty Patty and Uncle Pat opened their home with warmth & generosity , and it was with great pride the Irish flag flew high to welcome us.
The rashers , sausages , cadburys chocolate , Christmas cake , and Jameson that we carried across the ocean was always greatly appreciated.
The yearly visits back to Ireland were never just visits they were night filled with stories laughter and song , and golf of course .
Many a great night was had in "Comrie"
His memory lives on not only in our hearts but in the stories and the hundreds of photos he took of us all throughout the years , a great man with the camera.
Uncle Pat will always hold a special place in our hearts.
May his gentle soul rest in peace.

Mr. Moran was a friendly, sociable fellow whom I really liked. I first met him when my sister got engaged to his son, Sean, and he immediately made me comfortable in his home, and, he offered me a beer. Every time I visited his house, he always offered me a beer. Even if it was 10 am. I occasionally took him up on his offer. Great guy, I will miss him.

So sorry to hear of Uncle Pat's passing. He was one of the kindest, cheerful, generous, loving people I have known.
All I can add to my brother Bernard's tribute is that our Uncle Pat, and his lovely wife Patricia, have been loving, caring, so generous throughout our lives.
I can only aspire to live up to their examples and be true to their values, which they learned from their own parents.
Rest in peace Uncle Pat and know that your were loved in equal measure. Xxx
