I just read the sad news about Joe in the latest issue of the U.S. Coast Guard Retiree Newsletter Jan - March 2019 issue ("TAPS" section). I was one of Joe's shipmates, also a fellow 1st class petty officer at the time aboard the U.S. Coast Guard Cutter Steadfast. I was aboard STEADFAST from 1983-1986. I KNOW that Joe was very proud of his family as he mentioned them & especially his Wife often while he was taking all of my money over the poker table (hee-hee) - Joe was good & also lucky when it came to playing poker. I KNOW that his loss must have been devastating to his family! Had I known that he lived so close to where I now live, I would have made contact & stopped by for a visit - maybe even another game of poker! My deepest sympathies, Kenneth Faria - Chief Radioman - U.S. Coast Guard (retired) - Orlando, FL...
