Addison Lee Messer III's Obituary
Addison Lee Messer III, 77, of Clearwater, Florida, passed away on September 20th, 2021, at Morton Plant Hospital. He was born on March 18th, 1944, to Addison Lee Messer II & Marjorie Bejian Messer in Spartanburg, SC. He was known to friends and family as Lee.
Lee was raised in St Petersburg, Florida and graduated from St Petersburg High School and Georgia Institute of Technology (Georgia Tech) with a degree in industrial engineering. He worked at Grady Hospital in Atlanta for a number of years and always kept up with his beloved Georgia Tech football team. While living in Atlanta, Lee met and married Janie Zumpf in 1969 and later divorced. He was active in the Episcopalian Church while in Atlanta.
Lee played the violin and viola in high school and continued to enjoy listening to classical music throughout his life. More recently, he liked watching old movies and learning about different facts on the History and National Geographic Channels.
Lee is preceded in death by his mother and father. He is survived by his son James Elliott Messer (Jessica) and their two children, Elisabeth & Elliott, as well as his daughter Beth Julia Anderson (Glenn). He is also survived by his sister Nan Messer George (Michael) and their children, Jeff, Jennifer Ramsey (Charles), and Allison DeVore (Stewart).
