It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Albert Antunes on January 6, 2026, at the age of 94. Born on June 29,1931 to Mary (Roderick) and Julio C. Antunes, Sr. in Cambridge MA. Albert devoted his life to God, family, service, and country.
A proud United States Marine, Albert carried the values of honor, courage, and commitment throughout his life. He served in the Embassies in Washington DC, Mexico City and Japan. He later built a long and dedicated career as a U.S. Postal Employee in the Boston Office, where his reliability and friendly spirit were appreciated and recognized with many awards.
After retiring, Albert settled in at Palm Harbor, Florida. He embraced the coastal life—fishing whenever he could and finding quiet joy in painting. He will be most remembered for his generous and giving nature toward friends and family. Albert had a remarkable gift for making friends wherever he went and shared a deep love for his family, friends, and dogs, often adopting many into his home.
Albert is survived by his siblings: Rose Rhoades, Evelyn Richardson, and Mary Ann Jones; as well as many nieces and nephews, a brother‑in‑law, a sister‑in‑law, numerous great‑nieces and great‑nephews and other extended relatives. He sadly was predeceased by his siblings Alice Gordon and Julio C. Antunes, Jr., by three nephews, one niece and three brother-in laws.
Albert’s Florida friends and caretakers held a special place in his heart. The family extends heartfelt gratitude to Karen Chaves to her family and friends- and to Coral Oaks Assisted Living Staff for their devoted care of Albert over the years.
Services to celebrate Albert’s life, A memorial service will be held on January 16, 2026, at the Moss Feaster Funeral Home, 1320 Main Street in Dunedin, Florida from 5:00 to 7:00pm. In lieu of flowers, contributions to Wounded Warrior Project, Tunnel to Towers Foundation or Make a Wish Foundation in Albert’s honor.
Albert will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered. Semper Fidelis.
