Alfred M Gottscho's Obituary
Alfred Morton Gottscho passed away peacefully at Sabal Palms Rehabilitation Center in Largo, Florida on September 15, 2016 at the age of 97.
Alfred is survived by his wife of 75 years, Reba, sons Steven and Richard, 5 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his daughter Terri.
Alfred was born on April 29, 1919 in Brooklyn, New York to Adolf and Rae Gottscho. He graduated from New York’s City College in 1941 and received his Master’s degree in Chemical Engineering from Franklin & Marshall College, Lancaster, PA . in 1954. Alfred served in the US Army from 1944-1946 and saw action fighting Germans in the Italian Alps near the end of WW II. Alfred was a long time resident of Lancaster, PA where he worked for General Cigar Company and retired in 1991 as their Vice President of Research and Development. Alfred was a Master bridge player, a crossword puzzle aficionado and a world traveler. He was a long time member of Congregation Shaarai Shomayim, Lancaster, PA.
A private family service will be held at the Gottscho family plot, Maimonides
Cemetery, Elmont, NY.
