Alice Fern Irwin's Obituary
Alice “Fern” Irwin, of Clearwater, Florida, passed away on February 22, 2022 at the age of 74.
Beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and sister. Fern is survived by her sisters: June and Kay, as well as her children: Nina, Sherry, Ernie, Michelle and Penny, in addition to multiple grandchildren and great grandchildren.
We are truly devastated by the realization that she's gone. But thankful that she's no longer in any pain or discomfort. For a very long time she suffered and survived while having COPD and lung cancer. And while COPD chipped away at her body over the years it could never touch her mind. She was sharp as a tack and detail oriented her entire life. She tried to take care of us all, even when it was our turn to take care of her. She liked giving little gifts and never visited someone empty-handed. She’d offer the food off her own plate if she didn’t have anything else to give.
May we acknowledge and share both our joy in the gift that her life was to us, and the pain that her passing brings. In sharing the joy and the pain together today, may we lessen the pain and remember more clearly the joy.
Funeral services will not be held by her request. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the American Lung Association.
The family of Fern Irwin wishes to extend our sincere thanks to Orchid Cove nursing home. We appreciate the care and concern you extended to Fern and her family in her last weeks.
