Alison "Buck" Fincher's Obituary
Fincher, Alison M. "Buck", 95, passed away peacefully at his home in Belleair on Thursday, Dec. 8, 2016. He was born on June 25, 1921 in Decatur, GA, one of 5 children in a close-knit family that endured the Great Depression years. He graduated from North Georgia College and enlisted in the army in 1943. He served in WWII and earned the Purple Heart and 2 bronze stars while fighting in the Pacific Theater. He was honorably discharged with rank of Captain in 1946. He is preceded in death by his wife of 44 years, Mildred Hale. They married in 1948, raised 4 children, and worked in the insurance business for 35 years. He moved his family to Clearwater in 1970 and was faithfully involved at Calvary Baptist Church for 46 years. He enjoyed many sports, boating, and attending the Florida Orchestra, but above all, he loved spending time with his family. He is survived by a sister, Christina McCready, Hilton Head, SC, 3 daughters Susan (Jim) Calhoun, Oxford, GA, Alyson (David) Gery, Belleair, Amy (Chuck) Boudreau, Largo, and a son Don (Jean) Fincher, Birmingham, AL; 14 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, and is preceded in death by 2 granddaughters. A life celebration will be held on Mon., Dec. 12,
10:00 a.m. at Calvary Church, 110 McMullen Booth Rd, Clw. Burial will follow at Sylvan Abbey Cemetery. Visitation for family and friends will be Sun., Dec. 11, 1:00-3:00 at Moss-Feaster Funeral Home, 693 S. Belcher Rd., Clw. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to the Bay Area Pregnancy Center or neverthirstwater.org.
