Alva Lorraine Jones' Obituary
Jones, Alva Lorraine, 78, of Clearwater, passed away on October 10th. She was born January 16th, 1937 in Wyckoff, New Jersey. In 1958 she moved to Clearwater, where she met Milton Jones, her husband of 46 years. She was employed by General Nuclear in Dunedin, working on classified projects. Alva earned a degree from St. Petersburg College. She assisted Milton in his legal practice. Alva participated in the Florida Historical Society, where she held several offices. Through her involvement with local history groups, she gave countless presentations on Florida archaeological history to area schools. Her volunteerism at the YWCA benefitted the community in many aspects. She provided support for a local swim team by supporting & scoring at swim meets and transporting children to those meets across Florida. Alva is survived by daughter Elizabeth and her husband, Cliff, of Clearwater; son Richard and his wife, Elizabeth, of Arvada, CO; stepdaughter, Mary Margaret, of Clearwater; first cousin, Parry Knauss, of Panama City, FL; and grandchildren Ryan Jones, Sarah Jones and Conrad Childress.
