Ann Marie Engen's Obituary
Ann Marie (Kuusinen) Engen, a kind, caring, and loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, passed away peacefully at the age of 86 on April 24, 1938, in Dunedin, Florida. Ann was born on September 7, 1938 in Hibbing, Minnesota to Wayne and Martha Kuusinen. She was proceeded in death by her son, Randy, and is survived by her loving husband of 65 years, Maynard; and children, Gary (Teri) Engen, and Jean (Randy) Marten. Ann has five grandchildren; Abby Marten, Michael (Jessie) Marten, Andrew (Morganne) Engen, Jordan Engen, and Kira (Mitchell) Bratz. She also has three great grandchildren; Brynlie and Sawyer Engen, children of Andrew and Morganne Engen; and Raelyn Jo Bratz, daughter of Kira and Mitchell Bratz.
Ann met her adoring husband Maynard in a high school math class in St. Cloud, Minnesota. They married and moved to Minneapolis, Minnesota. After a short time, they moved to Sauk Centre, Minnesota where she and her husband operated numerous businesses: a garbage route, a restaurant, a used car lot, and a printing press. After 13 years, they moved to Stevens Point, Wisconsin, where they operated a Coast-to-Coast hardware store and finally a Hallmark card shop bearing Ann‘s name.
Ann loved knitting, gardening, fishing, and camping. She did not like exercising, though she did like to play tennis in her earlier years and go to the swimming pool at her condo complex. Ann would join a group of women at church in Stevens Point to sew blankets for needy people and taught knitting at her condo complex in Dunedin, Florida. She will be greatly missed by her loving family and friends, as well as her church family. God bless and keep you, Ann.
