Anne E Stickler's Obituary
Stickler, Anne E, 82, of Clearwater, passed away on Monday, March 16, 2015. She was born in Oak Park, IL and came to Clearwater in 1975 from Antioch, IL. Anne was predeceased by her husband, Ray, and children, Jeffrey and Cynthia Sue. She is survived by six children: Michael Stickler (Linda), Scott Spriggs, April Stout (Boyd), Beth Holbert, Steven Stickler (Lynn), and David Stickler. She has nine grandchildren: Alex, Jessica, Alexis, Joshua, Daniel, Ricky, Amanda, Kristian, and Jordan; and one great-granddaughter, Ava. She is also survived by her siblings, Billy Kohl and Betty Bogart.
Anne loved flowers and naturally became a floral designer. Her personality was as free as a butterfly. One of our favorite stories is that when she was in her mid-teens and just after the war ended, she paid her friends a penny for each flower they picked and brought to her. She would then make corsages and sell them at the train station.
Her children were her garden. She was our teacher, cheerleader, and protector. After having our own children, only now do we understand how much she loved us all. Mom would say with honor, “I have 7 children and an angel.” There are so many stories that are told again and again. Only to be listened to as if hearing them for the first time.
Anne’s interests were: flowers, roller skating, swimming, music and dancing, Avon, the Chicago White Sox and Harry Caray, and the Tampa Bay Rays. Mom prided herself on her cooking. Imagine setting the table every night for eight and a highchair. She was a member of the Moose and in charge of the children’s games and prizes. She became a member of the VFW later in life in support of her sons and to play Bingo.
I would like to thank the following people for helping Mom:
Suncoast Hospice. Because of the wonderful people at Hospice, Mom was able to live her last months in comfort. Thank you for the services you provided to her and our family. Mom was able to pass on in comfort and grace. The yellow and bronze teams were there in a moment’s notice. Tamika and Linda shared Mom’s last day. We will always remember your understanding.
Thank you to the Belleair Country House, which we endearingly call the “Country Club.” Mom enjoyed her last couple of months with a small group of caring souls. The moment we walked in, it just felt like home. She had a private room with flowers on the wallpaper. The first day Mom arrived, she said, “Isn’t that pretty?” It is important that I recognize each person by name: Owners, Mitch and Carol, John, Michelle, Twin, Eline, Latoya, Helen, Andrea, and Kayla.
Michelle Helt. Thank you for the years of faithful, loving service to Mom and our family. We cannot truly express the comfort, kindness, and gentleness you so easily gave her in her later years. I saw tears of sadness and joy many times in your eyes. We are eternally grateful.
Our brothers, Scott and David. As Mom requested, thank you for helping her stay in her own home as long as possible. Through the laughter and tears, we recognize your dedication it took to care for her. You were her hands and feet when she could no longer care for herself. Most importantly, you were her memory.
Visitation will be held at 1 PM, Sunday followed by services at 3 PM at Moss Feaster Funeral Home, 693 S. Belcher Road, Clearwater, FL. In lieu of flowers the family requests contributions to Suncoast Hospice, 5771 Roosevelt Blvd, Clearwater, FL 33760. For further information, please visit www.mossfeasterclearwater.com
