Arnold Dean Kincaid's Obituary
Beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, Arnold Dean Kincaid, 94, of Round Lake Park/Des Plaines, Illinois passed away peacefully on Friday, August 28, surrounded by his loving wife and family at his winter home in Clearwater Beach, Florida. Arnold was born on October 1, 1925 to the late Howard and Elva Kincaid. Arnold was raised with extremely modest beginnings in Hord, a rural town in central Illinois. He grew up attending a one room schoolhouse with his brother Ansil and sister Alene.
In March of 1944, at the age of 18 Arnold enlisted into the U.S. Army to serve the country in WWII. While crossing the Mediterranean Sea the troop transport ship he was on received a direct hit from a German submarine torpedo. Arnold was seriously wounded and lost his vision. He required extensive surgery and was awarded the Purple Heart. Months later God miraculously restored his vision to the amazement of medical personnel. He later served as a military police officer stateside to complete his military service and was honorably discharged in June of 1946.
Arnold was then stationed in Milwaukee, Wisconsin where he met and married Betty Raymond. They moved back to central Illinois where his entrepreneurial spirit started with his brother Ansil (Cleta) and Betty where they ran a store that sold gasoline, groceries and delivered heating oil along with driving the local school bus. Arnold and Betty had two children Marjorie and Raymond. In 1954 he began work with Arcole Construction building interstate 57 through the center of Illinois. Arnold worked his way up from mechanic to a senior position with the Illinois company and moved to Des Plaines where he worked to build I80 from Chicago to New York. Betty passed away in 1959.
In 1961, Arnold married Christine Joanne Castro of Melrose Park, they had two children Kevin and Maris. Arnold and his wife, through a vision to “Dream” and the application of a work ethic described as tenaciously aggressive, built a life worthy of the Great American Dream. While building their dream together through real estate, property management and savvy business dealings, Arnold and Chris instilled in their children that same tenacity and passion that served them so well. Arnold and Chris loved to entertain, enjoyed hosting family and friends at their home as well as many special vacations throughout their life together.
Arnold served on the board of the Northwest Mosquito District for 45 years serving as President for many years. Arnold was also a member of the Des Plaines Elks.
In recent years Arnold and Chris have enjoyed the warm Gulf breeze and sunsets at their home in Clearwater Beach, Florida with loved ones.
