Dr Arthur Xavier Deegan II's Obituary
It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of Dr. Arthur X Deegan on January 20th, 2025.
Art survived his wife of 64 years Patricia (8/26/2021) leaving behind three children: daughter, Kathleen Deegan; son, Timothy Patrick Deegan (fiancé Michelle Munns); daughter, Maureen Ann Deegan Ramirez (husband Rick Ramirez); Grandchildren: Ryan Ramirez (wife Ally Ramirez) and Mariah Ramirez.
The family cordially invites friends to join us for his final viewing at Moss Feaster Funeral Home Main Chapel at 693 S Belcher Rd, Clearwater, FL 33764 on Wednesday January 22, 2025, anytime between 5 and 7pm.
A Funeral mass is Thursday January 23rd, 2025, at 11am followed by a reception at St Brendan's Catholic Church 245 Dory Passage, Clearwater Beach, FL 33767.
Arthur loved God.
Arthur was born in August 1929 in Massachusetts to Arthur and Mary Deegan. Art was a former Marist Seminarian and a Korean War veteran. He was introduced to the love of his life, Patricia (Pat) by a priest friend and they married in September 1957.
The family relocated to Florida in 1971 and has been a resident of Island Estates ever since.
His education included an MA in Philosophy from Marist College, an MBA from the University of Detroit, and PhD from the University of Michigan.
Art was an athlete and played semi pro baseball with the Boston Braves.
Professionally, he was founder and CEO of Art Deegan Management Consulting where he lectured and wrote several books on Management by Objectives and Succession Planning for many Fortune 100 clients.
He was elected and served as a Clearwater City Commissioner and as a Director of numerous non-profit and pastoral planning entities.
He continuously promoted helping the food insecure, homeless, the needy, less fortunate and the marginalized. He did much to support the right to life.
Most recently Arthur wrote and published several faith reflection books including The Bread of Life Discourse, The Hidden Life of Mary, The Appearances of the Risen Christ, I Believe in the Holy Spirit and Reflections on the Sacraments.
Some of his last words were "Oh God, how I love you".
" Into the arms of Mary".
"Jesus, we Trust in you."
