Arthur Frederick John Eckert's Obituary
Arthur Frederick John Eckert, was born in Queens, New York, to parents Arthur and Louise Eckert. He graduated from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (M.I.T.) and enjoyed a long career as a mechanical engineer and executive focused on metallurgy in aeronautics and nuclear power design, including receiving 3 patents, ultimately retiring from the Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission in 1997.
Art and wife Elaine were “snowbirds” after retirement travelling between Ottawa, Ontario, and Dunedin Florida, and became year round Dunedin residents in 2017. Art was a long time and active member and leader in church (North Dunedin Baptist Church). Besides family and church, Art loved sailing and photography.
Art passed away peacefully on July 30, 2020, at Harbor Chase of Palm Harbor, in the presence of loving wife, Elaine Eckert. He is survived by eight children: Steve Eckert, Pete Eckert (wife Amy), Karen Heman, Marlene Rickert (husband Paul), Rob Eckert (wife Cheryl), Charlane Cluett (husband David), Mark Hunter (wife Madeleine), Claralynne Williams (husband Jamie); grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.
