Paula Humerick
For all that my mom did, there were certain things that I will forever associate with her. I'm sharing them here, in no particular order:
Scouting - first with me, her daughter, as my Brownie troop leader, all the way through my brother Jeff's and brother Mark's Eagle Scout awards. 'Be prepared' is even today an unconscious motto in my own household. I can never refuse Girl Scout cookies.
Reading - some of my earliest childhood memories are of going to the library with Mom. Winnie the Pooh and Mary Poppins books were on as regular rotation. Mom read for entertainment all her life; it was only losing much of her eyesight that ended that passion.
Music - I was introduced to all forms, and later learned to play Mom's clarinet. I didn't do well with piano, but it was always there.
Cruises to Alaska - Mom and Dad took a few major cruises, but going to Alaska was by far her favorite. She always encouraged me to "walk on a glacier. You MUST walk on a glacier."
Embroidery - she did it beautifully. I have saved every piece.
I will think of her constantly, and only wish her the eternal peace she deserves.
With love from her firstborn - Paula
