Barbara J. Brokhoff's Obituary
Barbara Jean Brokhoff was born in Mexico, Missouri, on February 25, 1928, and departed this life on January 16, 2023 in Dunedin, Florida. Daughter of James Andrew and Emma Jane McFarland, who preceded her in death. Barbara was the wife of Dr. John R. Brokhoff, who died in December 2003. She leaves to mourn her passing, a daughter, Jodi Poletz from Clearwater, Florida, four step-children: Wendy Shook, Helen Landel of Charlottesville, Va., Ginny Waits and John W. Brokhoff of Lawrenceville, Ga. Barbara served as pastor and Evangelist in the Missouri East conference of the United Methodist church for fifteen years. She also served on the Missouri Conference Board of Evangelism and Social concerns. After her marriage to Dr. John R. Brokhoff, Barbara moved from Missouri to Georgia where she served as General Evangelist for five years, and after moving to Florida continued to serve as General Evangelist of that Conference for fourteen years. Barbara also served as a minister/teacher on the staff of St. Paul UMC of Largo, Florida. Barbara received the "Outstanding Evangelist of the Year award in 1999, by the National Association of United Methodist Evangelist. Barbara is also the author of eight books. A Memorial Service will be celebrated at 3 PM on Saturday, January 21 at St. Paul's United Methodist Church, 1498 Rosery Road, Largo, FL 33770.
