I adored Barbara. She was the assistant choral director at Buchanan Jr High many moons ago and I got to know her personally after she was at Buchanan. Such a sweet and kind person. Was sad to hear of her passing.

Such a beautiful and sweet lady. Both inside and out. I had the great pleasure of working with her in ministry at Skycrest church. She faithfully and lovingly played the piano for the Exceptionals students class there. The students so loved her ! Such a sweet sweet lady.
So full of love and a blessing to everyone around her. She will be so missed. Love and prayers to Lee and the rest of her family.

Aunt Barbara was always my favorite Aunt, as we were the "kids" of the family. I always teased her she looked like Lois Lane on the old Superman TV show.

In 1972, I became the organist of SKYCREST Baptist Church. At that time Barbara was serving as choir director until Jon Mullins came to be the music director. Then Barbara began playing the piano. She and I immediately became friends and for twenty years practiced piano and organ pieces to play for Sunday services as well as for cantatas and special events (weddings etc.)My family loved and admired her so much and she was always so kind to them. Music wasn’t the only occasions to get together. We’d go to special places for lunch or do some shopping. She was so helpful helping me pack my crystal and China when we were preparing to move back to Georgia. I became the organist at St Mark Methodist Church in Columbus Ga for 25 years. The pianist there was David Roberts and many many times I told him and other friends in Ga about my dear friend Barbara and all the great times I shared with her. David and I played many of the same duets Barbara and I played which brought back all the memories of Barbara. Lee, you and Barbara have touched so many lives and your Christian example will eternally last. Barbara made a plaque for me which lists the fruits of the Spirit and I cherish it. Our prayers are with you and we pray that you will have peace from God in the following days until we all see Jesus our loved ones and friends in heaven. Such a beautiful, sweet, compassionate and caring Lady. What a joy it was to get to know her and Lee in caring for her. She will truly be missed at Grand Villa.

Our family came to Skycrest church in 1975. I was a new believer, and I met Barbara when I joined the choir soon after joining the church. I came to admire her talent for music as we worked together often. And her care and concern for others around her was clear. We quickly developed a close friendship that brought us many happy times, and later would see me through some difficult ones, - when we lost our son, and when I almost lost my husband. Barbara was by my side with love, prayers, and encouragement. She brought me a plaque from her home that read, “Faith is not believing that God can, it is knowing that He will.” She was a woman of strong faith. Barbara gave our daughter piano lessons when she was young, and Laura still speaks lovingly of her. Barbara and Lee and my husband Ron, and I enjoyed many special times together through those years. Even after we left Skycrest for a new church in 2005, we stayed connected. I loved kidding her that she always got to our next birthday five months before I did. To Lee and her family, our prayers and deepest sympathy. She was my special friend, and I will miss her.

Barbara, Mrs. Smith, as I called her, was my piano teacher when I was young. She was encouraging, an amazingly talented musician, and always had a bright smile to greet you when arriving for each lesson. My thoughts and prayers go out to her husband Lee and her family. She will be missed.
