Barry, I never had a male best friend before I met you. You brought such joy into my life at a time when it was definitely needed. That joy was spread to others as well. You had such a variety of females that took care of you when you started work at Housecall. I lost count how many there were. I always wondered what your neighbors thought. “There’s another car with a different woman picking him up and dropping him off.” That went on for years. How envious they must have been. Thank you Liz for sharing him with us. A dear and loving friend sent this to me recently when it was learned that Barry was no longer with us. I would like to share it.
HE IS FREE
Don’t grieve for him, for now he’s free
He’s following paths God made for him
He took his hand, He heard him call
Then turned, and bid farewell to all
He could not stay another day
To laugh, to love, to sing, to play
Tasks left undone must stay that way
He found my peace…at close of play
And if his parting left a void
Then fill it with remembered joy
A friendship shared, a laugh, a kiss
Ah yes, these things he too will miss.
Be not burdened…deep with sorrow
He wishes you the sunshine of tomorrow
His life’s been full he’s savored much
Good friends, good times
A loved one’s touch
Perhaps his time seemed all too brief
Don’t lengthen it now with undue grief
Lift up your hearts and peace to thee
God wanted him now
He set him free
Until we meet again my dear friend. You will definitely be missed and I promise you will never be forgotten. Love always, Barbara
