Basil W. Reid's Obituary
Basil “Wayne” Reid, 85, of Clearwater, FL, passed away peacefully on Monday, December 30, 2019, surrounded by his family. He was predeceased by his wife and soul mate, Patsy (Leavy), with whom he shared 54 years of marriage.
Wayne was born on November 17, 1934 in Agra, Kansas to the late Clarence & Jessie (Minium) Reid. He moved to Clearwater in 1976 coming from Hawaii, after retiring from the military. He honorably served with the U.S. Army for 22 years, retiring with the rank of Sergeant First Class. He went on to work for the City of Clearwater for 20 years as a computer specialist. He was an amazing father, grandfather and great-grandfather, with an adventurous spirit. He enjoyed traveling around the country in a camper with his wife and children. Later in life, he and his wife would continue those trips with their grandchildren, going on numerous adventures around the country in their RV.
Wayne is survived by his sons Allen (Katrina) Reid of Apopka, FL, Stephen (Debbie) Reid, David Reid and Michael (Sandy) Reid all of Clearwater and a daughter Susan (James) Chase of Largo. Also surviving are six grandchildren Ashley (Steven) Kane, Jason, Dylan, Nicole, Adam and Jordan, one great-granddaughter, Emma Kane, and five great-grandsons, Gary, Michael and Kameron Kane, Anthony Monge and Cooper Reid.
Gathering of Friends will be Sunday, January 12, 1:00PM with a memorial service at 2 PM at the Moss Feaster Funeral Home, 693 S Belcher Road, Clearwater, FL 33764 Ph # 727-562-2070.
