Betsy Jones' Obituary
Jones, Betsy Baesler, 88, Clearwater, passed away peacefully at home July 25, 2022. Betsy was born in Lexington, Kentucky and raised in the small farming community of Athens, Kentucky. While growing up, she was very active in school and church activities at Athens High School and Athens Christian Church. She graduated high school as class valedictorian and went on to study music at the University of Kentucky.
Betsy married E. Ray “Cotton” Jones, and together they faithfully led three growing Christian churches in Lexington, Kentucky, Indianapolis, Indiana and Clearwater, Florida. During their years of ministry, Betsy used her musical gifts as a pianist, organist, soloist and choir director in their local church. She used her gifts in revivals, conventions, conferences and civic gatherings. She was a mentor to many and willingly served wherever necessary to see the Lord’s church grow. Nothing was more important to Betsy than her Savior Jesus, and the opportunity to honor Him through her personal ministry. But to truly know Betsy was to know of her love for the Tampa Bay Rays, Dairy Kurl Ice Cream and various shopping establishments around Pinellas County. Her family feels incredibly blessed by her legacy and the love she consistently poured into their lives and the lives of everyone she met.
Betsy is survived by three children; daughter, Terre (Dennis) Holland, sons, Larry (Jane) Jones and Stuart (Stacia) Jones; 6 grandchildren: Ryan (Kim) Holland, Nathan (Jenn) Jones, Kendall Holland, Laura Jones, Camden Jones and Emery Jones and 4 great-grandchildren: Jillian and Christopher Holland and Addison and Wilder Jones. She is also survived by a brother, Charles R. (Betty) Baesler. A memorial service will be held Thursday, August 18, 6 pm at First Christian Church of Clearwater. The family will receive friends from 4-6 pm at the church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Morton Plant Mease Health Care Foundation
