Bette Ida McLamb's Obituary
Bette Ida Harvey McLamb of Dunedin passed away peacefully Sunday June 8, 2025, surrounded by her family and friends. Born May 17, 1935 Bette leaves behind a lifetime legacy of kindness, humor, graciousness and love.
Bette was a graduate of The Ohio State University where she studied Journalism and was President of her sorority, Kappa Kappa Gamma. She remained an active member in the Kappa Kappa Gamma alumni chapter in the Tampa, St. Petersburg area. After college Bette worked as an executive assistant to the President of Penn Mutual Bank. She also taught at the Germantown Friends School in Philadelphia, PA.
Bette moved to Dunedin, FL in 1976 where she was very active in the community; volunteering with numerous organizations including the Dunedin Historical Society, St Andrews Presbyterian Church and countless local political campaigns. Bette worked in Human Resources at AC Nielson and later Ceridian. After retiring Bette enjoyed traveling the world with her family and friends visiting many countries, cruising and exploring the United States. Bette was an avid bridge player, playing most Mondays and often bringing home the $1 jackpot. Bette and her best friends were locally known as the Fab Five, their faces were familiar at many local social events and gave their time generously to causes close to their heart.
Bette, BIMI as she is fondly known by her grandchildren is survived by her children: Loren M Filion of Grand Rapids, MI; her children Chandler (Matt) Reed their children Penelope and Dwight Reed, sons Jackson Filion and Michael Filion. James M (Nancy) McLamb of Julian, CA; their children Quintin (Aubree) McLamb their children Cohen and a great grandchild expected this year, Sydney (Ryne) Dutcher and a great grandchild expected this year. Michael H (Kari) McLamb of Ozona, FL their children Angelo Antolino, Taylor McLamb, Michael McLamb, John (Ava) McLamb and a great grandchild expected this year. Her brother James (Jan) Harvey several nieces and nephews. Her cousins Tom (Kathy) Fromme and Sue Fromme.
Bette was preceded in death by her parents, James (Veta Rodkey) Harvey; her cousin, Jinny (Joe) Fromme; great grandson, Beckham J Dutcher; and her beloved dog, Kendall.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
A special Thank You to the nurses and staff at Palm Garden of Clearwater for the extraordinary care and kindness to Bette and her family during this time.
