Like others I knew Bettie slightly in high school. In 1992 when my classmates published a 20 year reunion pamphlet I had mentioned my best friend/classmate Glenn Fischer had passed away from AIDS and Bettie sent me a deeply moving letter about it. We corresponded by snail mail for awhile, then FB brought us together again, and she was always so kind to me. When she saw a video of my receiving a "lifetime achievement award" (mostly for my biz and a book I wrote) she said how nice it was to "hear your voice again" (I had done a lot of stage work in high school). Our friend Liz (Debi) Brown, class of '71 found this obituary the other day. I heard about Bettie's passing a few days after it happened but didn't know the details. I'm heartbroken. I shared her political beliefs as well and enjoyed her being outspoken about them. My best to Chuck.

So sad and shocked to learn of Bettie’s passing. I knew Bettie for several years over 30 years ago. In all the years that have passed, I have never forgotten her. Very kind, very smart, very warm, salt of the earth.
From her obituary, I can see that she had been very happy and fulfilled. I am happy for her. One thing we had in common is that I too love cats, and have had many at one time also. Too bad we never had a chance to discuss our mutual affection for cats.
So sorry for your loss Charles, although I never met you. You helped make Bettie happy and that should give you much comfort.
It is not the rich or famous that make our world a better place, but ordinary people who are extraordinary. That was Bettie.

Chuck - I just learned of Bettie's passing. I am so sorry for your loss! I hope the many wonderful memories of your time together will ease the days, weeks, months ahead.

While I didn't know Bettie well during our SRHS and NJ times days, I got to know her as a result of Facebook (not a favorite of mine) and our numerous exchanges. Logging on is no longer fun without seeing a passionate Bettie post! She is missed!

My husband and I loved spending time with Bettie and my cousin Chuck over the many years that they lived in Absecon. And we are so happy to have a wonderful visit with them three years ago in Dunedin. I’ll always remember Bettie’s warm, caring personality, her love of cats, and the great conversations we had. Her work on our family geneology and her own was awesome. Bettie’s sharing of this history was one of the best things that anyone ever did for me! We will miss her so very much.

Bettie was a wonderful person. I interviewed with her at AMI. I kept in touch via Facebook after she retired. She was very sympathetic when I was going though some health issues myself and dealing with my immediate family issues. My heart goes out to your family and I will keep you and Bettie in my prayers. Bettie you will surely be missed.

Bettie was one of the people who interviewed me for my Mammography position way back in 2009 with AMI/Atlanticare. She always had such a pleasant personality and was easily approachable for any issues. She was a great asset to AMI. She will surely be missed. Praying for comfort and healing for her family at this difficult time.

My sincerest condolences to you Chuck. Bettie was a strong woman and a pillar of strength and compassion to me when my family went through a "rough patch". Other than having met a smiling, energetic, musical Bettie during my childhood visit to Uncle Billy and Bea’s home in Tuckerton, I had the joyful privilege of becoming acquainted with Bettie two summers ago while I was in Clearwater, visiting my sister Rachel and her family. Rachel had recently moved to Florida and learned that our cousin Bettie lived nearby in Dunedin, had met with her, and then invited her to visit with us while I was there. What a delightful and interesting lady! She had brought her folder of ancestry research and shared with us her extensive knowledge about our grandfather, Robert Paul Weiler, brother of her father and the Weiler family. Our visit was way too short. The news of her passing is so sad. I wish we had gotten to know Bettie better. In deepest sympathy, Caroline (Weiler) Sullivan

Bettie was a high school buddy and we had a group that continued to get together over the years for our annual brunch at Renault. Even after moving to FL, Bettie made a point of letting us know when she’d be in the area and we always caught up. She was a great person and it’s so sad that she has left us this soon. Our hearts go out to Chuck and the rest of Bettie’s family; we’re all fortunate to have had such a wonderful person in our lives.
