Aunt Betty,You were more than an aunt to me, you were a matriarch, teacher, and friend. I always admired your lively spirit and the way you could light up a room with your smile, laughter, hospitality and your great sense of humor. You had a way of making people feel important and I remember how you said during one of our last conversations that we all have a purpose.I also admired your adventurous spirit and always felt like you were way ahead of your time. My memories of you have mostly been about your life in Florida, all of the wonderful things you introduced us to, raising the triplets, Ashley, Alison and Anabel, taking care of Grandmother and Granddaddy that you did so well and later, taking care of Stanley.Your discovery of Dunedin created the most incredible memories, not just for myself but for 5 generations. Not only did we have wonderful vacations, we had some of the most unforgettable family gatherings on Mira Vista Drive. I'll never forget the Thanksgivings we shared, going to the K-Pot tree as a child, and the Greek dance later as a teen. You introduced us to the world right there in Dunedin, especially to Greek culture. I remember the many visitors who came by ...you always had something interesting to say and an eloquent way of speaking, as your conversation skills were phenomenal. Actually, you had a talent for so many things: cooking, gardening, photography, love of history, the art and craft of storytelling, letter writing and handwriting, just to name a few more. You were knowledgeable on so many topics and I always felt like I learned something by being around you.You shared the importance of family ties and I really appreciated the hard work it took for you to provide us all with our family tree. I really admired how you never forgot your Alabama heritage. I enjoyed what sadly became your last trip to Alabama in 2009 and driving you around places in your former hometown, listening to you reflect on your colorful history of growing up in Gadsden. When I see flowers, smell the scent of roses or jasmine, eat grapefruit or oranges, walk on Clearwater Beach or Honeymoon Island, or visit Tarpon Springs I will think of you. I will miss our conversations and the time we spent together. You were a very strong and important presence in my life and your memory will live in my heart forever. I will miss you more than words can say.Your niece,Carol
