Betty D Hendricks' Obituary
Betty D. Hendricks, age 93 of Clearwater, passed away peacefully on February 18,2017 at home with her family at her bedside. Born August 29, 1923 in Bedford, IN to parents Joseph Roscoe Hitchcock and Mabel E. Sargent, she was the younger sister of Herman, Mary and Helen and older sister to her beloved brother James (all deceased). She is preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, James E. Hendricks.
Betty worked as a secretary at Crane Naval Depot (Indiana) and General Motors while James attended Indiana University School of Dentistry. She and her husband established their home in Clearwater in 1955, Betty was a homemaker and she was the core of her family in which she took great pride. She valued her deep family roots as a member of the Hatfield family. Betty was an active member of her community giving years of volunteer service with the YWCA Board of Directors and the Clearwater Community Women’s Club in addition to volunteering at her children’s schools.
Betty enjoyed many years sharing travel adventures with friends and neighbors. During retirement she and James traveled often across the US and found a 2nd home in Waynesville, NC. There they built a mountain retreat where family and friends gathered for over 20 years and deep friendships were built.
Betty will be especially missed by her extended family which included lifelong dear friends and neighbors with whom she shared her heart & home.
She is survived by two children, Cheryl (Hendricks) Good and Bradley J. Hendricks (Patrice) 3 grandchildren Caitlin J. Hulett (Michael), Nicole L. Hendricks and James R. Hendricks and three Great Grandchildren, Lily Hulett, Mason Hulett and Riley Hulett, Nephew’s Stephen Henderson (Lisa), Ron Hitchcock (Gwen), Phil Hitchcock (Judy) and a large extended family.
