Betty J LeDuc's Obituary
LeDuc, Betty J. Pester, age 93
Betty passed away August 16, 2016 in Largo. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and friend.
Betty was born in Thurman, Iowa in 1923 to the late Sherman and Hazel Surface. She had one brother, Rev. L. Dean Surface, who pre-deceased her. She graduated from Thurman High School and then attended secretarial school in Omaha, where she met her husband of 42 years, Dr. George Pester. They settled in Council Bluffs, Iowa in 1951 when George began his surgery practice.
After George passed away in 1984, Betty married Dr. Donald LeDuc and was widowed again in 1996. A seasonal resident since 1982, Betty moved to Cove Cay in Clearwater, FL permanently in 2001.
Betty was a member of both the Lakeshore Country Club in Council Bluffs and the Cove Cay Country Club. She was an excellent golfer, proud of her hole-in-one. She bowled a 600 series and was a fierce competitor at the bridge table. Betty expertly crocheted, knitted and cooked and she was a skilled pianist. Family and friends enjoyed her warmth and good sense of humor.
She was the beloved mother of Dr. Tom Pester (Dr. Judy), El Paso, and Judy McMahill (George Cortright), Harbor Bluffs. She leaves her grandchildren: Rosemary Troxle (Matthew), Baton Rouge; Jennifer Warner (Shane), Mansfield, TX; and Jeffrey Pester (Kandi), Santa Fe, plus great-grandchildren Ethan Troxle, Andrew and Eliza Warner, and Natalie and Dean Pester. She leaves step-children Gayle Lopez, and Grant and Greg LeDuc.
A special thank you to the staff at Palm Garden of Pinellas for their kind and loving care.
A memorial celebration will be held in Council Bluffs, Iowa at a later date.
