Burdell Carol Kashinski's Obituary
Burdell Carol Kashinski (Simonis) 74, passed away peacefully on July 4, 2015, Independence Day. She was the wonderful wife for 52 years of Joseph Kashinski. She is also survived by her loving daughter Wendy (Kashinski) Flaherty, her husband Richard Flaherty and her two granddaughters Abby and Meghan whom she loved so much. She was also the caring daughter of the late George and Jessica (Benson) Simonis, loving big sister to George Simonis of Kentucky and Connie (Simonis) Hage of California. In addition she had two nephews, Brian and Drew Simonis. She was also a sister in law and loved dearly by John and Nancy Kashinski, Helen and the late Nick Alfonso and the late Mike and Carol Priami. She was a good family friend of Matthew Merryman for over 35 years.
Burdell was a nurse for over 22 years at Morton Plant Hospital. She was always helping people in need whether it was at work or outside the hospital. She enjoyed being a band parent in her daughter's marching band at Clearwater High School for all 4 years with her husband and was the "band mom" to many of them. She could talk to absolutely anyone and could always be caught singing or whistling around the house. She received the most joy being surrounded by family and friends and was always talking about her granddaughters.
After retiring Burdell set out to start traveling and create more memories. She went on over 50 cruises with her husband, Joe, and sometimes other family or friends. They traveled to so many places inside and out of the U.S. with a treasure chest of photographs to tell a lifetime worth of stories. She enjoyed visiting historical places and traveled to Boston many times to visit her daughter and her family. She enjoyed sports and, although she was a diehard Rays and Bucs fan, she had a soft spot for the Red Sox and the Patriots. She also loved visiting her brother and sister and catching up about the "good ole' days".
Burdell has touched many lives and made an impression in this world. She will truly be missed by many and always remembered for her caring heart and the happiness she's given to others.
