In Loving Memory of Burton A. Kinney November 22, 1934 – April 13, 2025
Burton A. Kinney, beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and patriot, passed away peacefully on April 13, 2025, at the Landmark in Clearwater, Florida. He was 90 years old. Burt lived a life marked by love, service, and family.
He was born on November 22, 1934, in Waverly, New York, to Walter M. Kinney and Cynthia Boardman Kinney; sister, Betty Horton (passed) husband, Al Horton; children Doug, Robert, and Ronald.
Burt was married to the love of his life, Dolores Keene Kinney, for 63 years until her passing. Together, they raised seven children, creating a legacy of love and family. His children include Felicia Deaner (spouse Bob Deaner), Philip Kinney (spouse Michelle Kinney), Patricia Gilbey (spouse John Gilbey), Melissa Takara (spouse Gavin Takara), Matthew Kinney, Christopher Kinney, and Christine Leigh (spouse Seth Leigh).
Family was at the center of Burt’s heart. He cherished every moment with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren and took immense pride in watching their lives unfold. His grandchildren and great-grandchildren include Monica Eisinger (spouse Kenneth Eisinger; children Elizabeth, Chelsea, and John), Michael Deaner (child David Yaratch), Timothy Deaner (spouse Holly Deaner), Shawna Rae Fron (spouse Brian Fron; children Madelyn and James), Victoria Pinckley (spouse Ryan Pinckley), Lydia LaGamma (spouse James LaGamma), Steven Gilbey (spouse Jill Gilbey; children Aubrey, Landon, and Anna), Micha Clark (spouse Jeffrey Hunter Clark; children Benjamin, Adalynne, and Brody), Ryan A. Gilbey (passed) (children Ethan, Emma, and Maren), Liam Leigh, and Olivia Leigh.
Burt served honorably in the United States Air Force for 24 years, proudly traveling the world as a skilled mechanic and Vietnam veteran. After his military retirement, he continued his service to the nation as a hurricane mechanic for NOAA. His dedication to his family and love for God & country were evident in every chapter of his life.
Burt was known for his sense of humor, gift for storytelling, and enjoyed watching John Wayne movies with his family. He delighted in sharing tales of his military, the latest sports news, and life experiences. He was mechanically inclined, remarkably organized, and always ready with a solution. He loved the outdoors, was an avid sports fan, and above all, he was a man who loved his family fiercely and wholeheartedly.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, May 15, 2025, at 10:00 AM at Moss Feaster in Clearwater, Florida.
