Callie McArthur Robinson's Obituary
It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of Callie McArthur Robinson, age 91, on March 10, 2025. Callie, a most loving and devoted wife and mother, was predeceased by her husband of nearly 57 years, Reverend Doctor Leslie Cranford Robinson; and is survived by her sons, Frederick (Leslie) of Oldsmar, FL and Stephen (Elizabeth) of Westcliffe, CO.
Callie was born in Wakulla, North Carolina, the youngest child of Neil Pat and Roberta Smith McArthur. When she was six, the family moved to Goldsboro, NC, where Callie lived until heading to Decatur, Georgia and post-secondary school at Agnes Scott College. There, our proud Scottie majored in Bible studies and received her elementary teaching certificate but most importantly, met the charismatic seminary intern, Leslie Robinson. Callie and Les were married shortly before Callie's graduation from Agnes Scott and after graduation, promptly moved to Grifton, North Carolina to begin their life together.
She spent over 40 years in the classroom, primarily teaching kindergarten and first grade, earning her nickname "The Hummingbird" for the boundless energy and joy she brought to the job. Her love of teaching made an impact on so many young lives. After retiring, Leslie and Callie moved to Florida in 2001 to enjoy sunshine, tennis, and their are many friends.
Callie will best be remembered for her delightful North Carolina accent, her unfailing kindness, and unabashed pride of her Scottish heritage. She was a person of quiet faith, loved by all who knew her, and will surely be remembered as a gentle and generous soul. It gives us great comfort to know that she again joins Les to begin yet another life together.
A memorial service will be held this spring at Peace Memorial Presbyterian Church in Clearwater, FL. In lieu of flowers, the family asked that those who wish and are able, to instead make a donation to the Peace Church Organ Restoration Fund.
"Well done, thou good and faithful servant." Matthew 25: 2
