Carmen Q. Martinez's Obituary
Carmen Quinones Martinez, 90, of Clearwater, FL passed away from this life and transitioned to her new life Sunday, June 10, 2018. If you could describe Mom in one word it would be “Love”. Love for her family and friends, Love for God and love for life. Wonderful and giving wife, mother, Abuela, sister and friend she excelled at everything she attempted. Born in New York City, NY, Mom had been a resident of Florida since 1997. While raising four rambunctious children, she decided to start a higher level education process that would result in Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Spanish Literature. After 15 very successful years as a Spanish teacher, she and Dad retired to a leisurely life in Puerto Rico. Knowing Mom, you were sure that the leisurely life would include another adventure. To keep herself occupied, she obtained her Realtor’s license. Her second career culminated in her becoming the top Realtor in her field. They then headed to Georgia and finally back to the water at Clearwater Beach, Florida. We will miss Mom’s advice, her quick wit and desire to always make you feel relaxed and well-fed when you were with her as she always had a pot of yellow rice on stand-by or a cookie or bottle of cream soda to help with the occasional midnight snack. We are sure that Dad (Leo) and her brother Frankie greeted her at the Pearly Gates for the start of many new adventures. Mom is survived by her children, Leo, Ricky, Michael and Elizabeth; siblings, Edward, Charlie, Mary, Judy and Lorraine; her six grandchildren Veronica, Alexandra, Victoria, Andrew, Lara and Mark and two great-grandchildren, Caleb and Adrienne. Donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, https://www.stjude.org/. Visitation will be Wednesday, June 13, 5:00PM - 7:00PM at the funeral home and Funeral Mass will be Thursday, June 14, 2:00PM at St. Catherine of Siena, 1955 S. Belcher Rd, Clearwater, FL 33764.
