Carol Ann Pace's Obituary
Carol Ann Pace (nee Romance) died peacefully on September 17th, 2025, in Houston, Texas. She was predeceased by her husband, James Paul Pace, who died in 2018. Carol is survived by her 3 children, Dr. Kathleen Pace Murphy (husband Jim), James A. Pace (wife Mary), Linda M. Pace Lintner (Husband Michael). Daughter of the late John J Romance and Catherine Sharkey Romance, sister of the late Kathleen Romance and brother John R. Romance. Nana to grandchildren Robert and Jessica Edwards Murphy, Pace and Kylie Fichter Murphy, Steven and Amanda (Pace) Kauffman, Jonathon and Riss Pace, Justin and Mary Catherine Woodcox, and Olivia Ann Kniat. Nana was blessed with 9 great grandchildren, Leighton, Riley, Reese, and Gavin Kauffman, Benjamin and Josephine Woodcox, Mark & Callahan Murphy, and Everett Murphy.
Carol was born in 1933 in South Buffalo, New York. She attended Holy Family School and Mount Mercy Academy. She was a member of the Cadet Teacher Program, served as President (senior year) and graduated in 1951 from D’Youville College. Carol started her professional teaching career as a teacher at Grant Street School in North Tonawanda, New York. She met the love of her life, Jim, when she stood up at her brother Jack’s wedding. They were married a year later (1958) and theirs was a great love story.
In 1966, Carol was hired to teach in the West Seneca School System and retired from teaching 5th grade science and math at Clinton Street School in 1993. She was awarded Teacher of the Year in 1984. Carol and Jim retired to Largo, Florida and lived in Fairway Village up to Jim’s death in 2018. They lived a full and very happy life in Florida and made many life-long friends.
In lieu of flowers, Carol has requested donations be sent to one of the following organizations: St. Catherine of Sienna Catholic Church (Clearwater, Florida) for the Sienna House project, Mount Mercy Academy (Buffalo, New York) for the Carol and Jim Pace Education Fund, or D’Youville College (Buffalo, New York) for the alumni fund.
Carol’s wake will be held Wednesday, September 24th from 4 pm – 6 pm followed by a reception at Moss Feaster Funeral Home (Clearwater, Florida). Her mass of Christian burial will be held at St. Catherine of Sienna Church, Clearwater, Florida on Thursday September 25th at 10 am and entombment at Memorial Park Cemetery in St. Petersburg, Florida next to her beloved, Jim.
