Carole Anne Stoddard's Obituary
Carole Anne Stoddard, 80, of Dunedin, Florida ( formally of Schoolcraft, MIchigan), passed away unexpectedly on April 6, 2025, after moving down to Florida to be close to her family. She was born in Rasharkin, Northern Ireland to Norman and Helen Williams and migrated to the United States on St. Patrick's Day of 1947.
Carole had great pride in being a teacher for over 30 years in Kalamazoo, Michigan, was a member of the First Presbyterian Church and a member of the Chicago Historical Society. She was a history major in college, she kept in regular contact with several of her grade school and college friends as well as her former students, and she had an affinity for asking and answering trivia questions at a moment's notice. She was also a huge music fan. She enjoyed a number of Motown artists (especially the Temptations), AC/DC, Dave Mathews Band, Barry White and James Taylor, just to name a few. She partook in a regular glass of wine, and had an infinite love of dogs, plants, and flowers, particularly peonies, which she constantly recalled seeing in her childhood home, as well as the scent of lavender. She found so much peace and comfort with living in Florida her last few years. Of all the things that brought her joy in life, the greatest one was being around her family and friends.
Carole is predeceased by her loving husband, James Allen Stoddard; and her parents Norman David Williams and Helen Scott Elder. She is survived by her three sons, James Norman Stoddard (Brenda), Jeremy Christopher Stoddard (Jacque), and Justin Daniel Stoddard; her brother, Norman Williams (Sarah); and her grandchildren, Evan Stoddard, Trevor Stoddard, Brendan Stoddard, Ian Stoddard, and Luke Stoddard. Carole is also survived by her cherished furry companion, her dog named Derry.
To honor Carole’s wishes, there will be a private celebration of life for immediate family members. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Carole's honor to ASPCA and/or Pinellas Humane Society, as well as a veteran charity of your choice.
