Charles "Charlie" Rice's Obituary
Charles Howard Rice of Dunedin, FloridaOn Friday, December 16, 2011 Charles Rice, 54,an avid lifelong player and lover of baseball was called up to Heaven's Field of Dreams. Given a new cancer-free Heavenly body, Charlie went out and threw a perfect 81-pitch no hitter.Charlie dedicated his win to his loving wife, Carla, daughter Katherine, son Jacob, grandsons Dakota and Izak of Dunedin and his sister Patricia Rice Abernathy (Tony) of Kannapolis, NC and brother Steve Rice (Ann) and niece Lauren of Winston Salem, NC and in honor of his late parents, Harvey L. Rice and Katherine (Fox) Rice. A local meat cutter, most recently with Publix Super Market at Granada Plaza in Dunedin, Charlie was beloved by most everyone he met. He grew up in Winston-Salem NC and moved to Pinellas County in 1979. A Gathering of Friends will be held on Saturday, January 7, 2012 at 12:30pm -2:00 pm at Moss Feaster Funeral Home in Dunedin with a Memorial Service at 2:00pm. A small Service will follow at Jack Russell Stadium in Clearwater, FL. The family wishes to thank Suncoast Hospice for the tender care given to Charlie during his final weeks here on earth.Memorial Donations in Charlie's Memory can be made to Suncoast Hospice.
