Charles "Chuck" Edward Moore II's Obituary
Charles ("Chuck") E. Moore II, 91 Born in Carnegie, Pennsylvania, resident of Clearwater, Florida, died at Palm Harbor Suncoast Hospice on February 8th. Charles was the son of Charles E. Moore Sr. and Elizabeth (McBride) Moore, and was preceded in death by his loving wife of 54 years, Georgia (Mann) Moore, his brother Robert S. Moore and his fiance Nancy Messing. He is survived by his loving family of nieces, nephews and in-laws who will deeply miss his wonderful stories, good humor and strong character.
Proud patriot and American, Chuck enlisted with the Army and served with the U.S. Army Air Forces which officially became the U.S. Air Force in 1947. He served in World War II as a reconnaissance photographer in the B-29 airplane. After his honorable discharge, he graduated from University of Pittsburgh and began his career in the steel industry, first with Bethlehem Steel, then with Florida Steel as a compensation manager. Most notable among Moore’s career accomplishments were his efforts to usher in equal pay for steelworkers workers during the 1960's and 70's.
He was a longtime member of Calvary Baptist Church in Clearwater, becoming a Deacon in 1973. He and his wife, Georgia, were dedicated servants in the Homebound Ministries throughout the 1980's and 90's. They lived their lives close to God and their commitment to fellowship was inspirational.
Chuck was a fabulous storyteller, and would make every conversation and visit a memorable event. He will be sorely missed, but not forgotten, as through his many stories we will keep his life and memory alive.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Chuck's name may be to Suncoast Hospice.
