Charles Duggan Jacobs' Obituary
Charles Duggan Jacobs, 97, of Clearwater, FL passed away September 21, 2025. He was born June 10, 1920 in Washington, DC to John Martin Jacobs and Edda Duggan Jacobs, and he graduated from Western High School in 1946. After graduation, he enlisted in the United States Army, was stationed in Alaska for a time, and was honorably discharged in 1948. Charles subsequently attended the University of Maryland where he graduated with a BS Degree in civil engineering in 1953. He eventually met and married the love of his life, Barbara Ann Scanlan of Long Island, NY in 1954. In 1965, Charles started his own company, known as "The Jacobs Group, Inc." He was a devoted member of the Church of the Ascension in Clearwater, FL. He was also a member of the Board of the Suncoast Dixieland Jazz Classic for many years, gave lectures at both the University of Florida and University of South Florida, and was past president of Ashrae. In his spare time, Charles enjoyed art, his tennis family, Dixieland and traditional jazz music, traveling, and various outdoor activities such as boating, camping, and golfing. He especially enjoyed his frequent visits to Waynesville, NC.
Charlie is preceded in death by his loving wife, Barbara; his parents, John and Edda; and his twin brother, John Duggan Jacobs (Joann). He is survived by his daughter, Patricia Alyce Jacobs of Clearwater, FL; her daughters Heather Leigh Chapman of New Orleans, Lindsay Renee Chapman of New Orleans; His son, Paul Scanlan Jacobs (Mary Taylor); and his grandchildren, Taylor Ann Prascak (Andrew) of Safety Harbor, FL, Samantha Campodonico (Joe) of Monroe, NC, Duggan Martin Jacobs of Safety Harbor, FL, and John Jay Jacobs (Sherri) of Topeka, KS. Charles is also survived by his great-grandchildren, Elizabeth Chapman, Jacob Andrew Prascak, Luke Taylor Prascak, Melanie Ruth Campadonico, and Cecile Avery Campadonico.
In lieu of flowers, Charles' family asks that donations be made in his honor to a charity of your choice. A family gathering will be planned at a later time.
