Charlie Murphy Jr., 80, was born on March 8, 1936 in Charlton County, GA from the late Icylean Hannans Murphy and Charles Murphy Sr. Charlie, loving known as "James", went home to rest with the Lord on August 13, 2016. Charlie was the second oldest of 13 siblings. He was educated in Charlton County High School which he then pursued a career in engineering. As a young adult he migrated to New York where he resided for the majority of his life. Charlie occupied the Chief Engineer's position at Bloomingdale's NY, NY for well over 37 years. During his down time Charlie enjoyed hosting family gatherings, remodeling his home, spoiling his grandchildren and taking long walks with his wife in their community. Charlie was a very giving man who spent most of his days studying the word of God. Charlie retired and relocated to Palm Harbor, FL over 18 years ago. It was in Palm Harbor that he found his church home within Countryside Christian Center. Charlie was a dedicated husband for over 52 years, father of 9, grandfather of 13, brother, uncle and cousin. Charlie was preceeded in death by his father Charles Murphy Sr., his mother Icylean Murphy, siblings Laura Foster, Thelma McNeil, Minnie Pearl Manor, Thomas Murphy, Jimmie Murphy, Alma Murphy, Nathaniel Murphy, Ernestine Murphy, Margaret Bacchus and Victoria Sibling. Charlie touched many lives during his time on earth and leaves behind to mourn his passing and cherish his memory, his wife Barbara Murphy, the children of their union Charlie Murphy (Nicole), Wayne Murphy (Mary), Daren Murphy (Juliane), Arlene Murphy and Renee Murphy; his children Rosamay Jones (Patrick), Debbie Murphy, Carl Doles (Jackie) and Michael Henry (Nikki); his siblings Laurence C. Murphy, Jacqueline Gilyard and a host of relatives and very special friends.
