Cheryl Darlene Gilbert's Obituary
Cheryl Darlene Gilbert, of Largo, FL, was welcomed home by our Heavenly Father on July 18, 2022, after 25 years of kicking cancers butt and defying all the odds. Her devotion to her family and her faith supported her in her struggles and ultimately brought her peace.
Cheryl was born in Patuxent River, MD, and later moved to Ohio where she began her family, and finally moving to Florida in 1972 for the remainder of her years. Cheryl was a devoted stay-at -home mom until she began her career in 1980, where for 35 years she worked in the veterinary industry helping owners get the love and care they needed for their fur babies. Cheryl had many talents ranging from gardening, sketching, baking and cooking (which will be missed terribly), to her amazing creativity with gifts to her grandchildren, whom were always so dear to her heart. The most amazing part of Cheryl was her selfless and generous love to all who were blessed to be a part of her world, but especially her family. That love was also found in her feisty nature of fiercely protecting those she loved.
Cheryl is survived by her loving husband, Alan Gilbert, her children Richard Pomeroy, Christina Lane, Kimberly Wells, her stepchildren Dan Gilbert, Michael Gilbert and Linda Schott, her brother Edward Strawser, 11 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews who will all miss her dearly. Cheryl is predeceased by her parents Darrell and Georgiana Strawser and her brother Richard Strawser.
Services will be held at Moss Feaster – 693 S. Belcher Rd., Clearwater, FL 33764 at 11:00 AM on August 13, 2022.
Gathering after at daughters house for all who would like to come celebrate Cheryl’s life.
In lieu of flowers, Cheryl would love a donation made in her name to an organization she highly respected, Frankie’s Friends, a pet charity to help pet owners pay for treatments they would otherwise be unable to afford. This can be done at www.frankiesfriends.org/donate.
As Cheryl would say, "Okay, I'm gonna let you go... oh by the way...
