My sister-in-law, Ching, was always kind to me when our families got together. She and I shared sisterly talks on those rare occasions when we were alone. I will miss her. Ching's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Chang, were kind and generous to my former husband and I when we visited Taipei in 1984. They invited us to their home, and took us to many restaurants, temples, and parks. In walking behind Mrs. Chang, we noticed that she had bound feet. She walked fast, moving her feet from side to side. We marveled that her daughters wore stylish high heeled shoes. So much change in one generation!
