Claire Longman's Obituary
Claire Virginia Reis Longman, 86, of Largo, Florida, formerly of Germantown , Ohio, died
following a short illness October 4, 2022. Claire was a graduate of Wittenberg University where
she played field hockey and basketball. She still holds records there as the University’s
Outstanding Senior Athlete. She served as president of the Ohio Association for Health,
Physical Education, Recreation and Dance. She received her masters degree at the University of Dayton and taught at Fairmont High School, Centerville Schools, and at The University of Dayton. She taught at the Valley View School District for over twenty years.
Claire attended Slifer’s Presbyterian Church in Farmersville, Ohio, and was a member of St.
Paul’s UnIted Methodist Church in Largo. An avid golfer, Claire was a member of the Palm Hill Golf Association. She loved to travel and had attended many Olympic Games worldwide for over 30 years.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William, (Bill), Longman in 2015.
She is survived by a daughter, Nancy Longman (Amy) of Portland, Oregon, two sons, William
(Shannon), and Michael, both of Germantown, two grandchildren, Lauren and Jamie of
Cincinnati, and her closest friend, Caroline Zimmerman of Largo, Florida.
Services for family and friends to be held 10:00AM at St. Paul United Methodist Church in Largo October 7, with Pastors Bob Martin, Pam Dubrovnik and Don Pratt officiating.
