Hebrews 13:14(NLT)
14 For this world is not our permanent home; we are looking forward to a home yet to come.
It's in our nature to wonder, "Are we there yet?" or "How much farther? How much longer?" We ask it while traveling and while sitting in the dentist's chair, when counting reps in out exercise routine and when longing for the scale to say we reached our goal. We might grow weary of this world, our life's journey, as we continue onto our final destination. Our true home. Jesus said it and His followers repeated it in New Testament writings. In John 14, Jesus told us He's gone ahead to prepare a place for us. Where we live now is temporary housing. The body we live in is temporary. We find this home uncomfortable most days and unbearably
uncomfortable during seasons of distress and grief. The answer to
our question, "Are we there yet?" isn't measured in miles or in how
many good deeds we've done. The length of our days was known from the beginning of time. He has the answer to the question, "How many more heartbeats?" It's a .question that isn't loaded with fear for those who trust Jesus rather than their accomplishments. It's loaded with longing.
Imagine how glorious it will be when He answers, "You have arrived
at your destination. Welcome home!"
