Dale L. Stillwagon Sr.'s Obituary
Dale L. Stillwagon Sr., 89, of St. Petersburg, Florida, passed on Sunday, February 22, 2015 after a brief illness. He was born in Largo, Florida and was a lifelong resident of Pinellas County and son of a Pinellas Pioneer Family.
Dale was a 55 year honorary member of the Florida Sheriffs Association, an active member of the Pinellas County's advisory board, performing volunteer services since 1947. He was a 32 degree Mason, Shriner, member of the Scottish Rite and Elmer O. Smith Lodge no. 307, an active member at Allendale United Mehtodist Church, serving on the finance committee, and a member of the money counting team. Dale was a firearms enthusiast and enjoyed attending local gun shows.
Early in his career, he served with the Pinellas County Sheriff's office and its Mounted Posse unit, remaining a lifetime honorary deputy, and was then followed by various jobs at Hovey Brothers Hardware, Pinellas Lumber Company, ESP Investigators, Alaris Home and Health Care Agency. Dale was a business partner in Future Vans prior to retirement. After retiring, he enjoyed cruising and sailed the Inside Passage of Alaska to the North and through the Panama Canal to the South with his companion of the last fourteen years, Virginia Wissinger.
Dale was preceded in death by his first wife, Suzanne and second wife, Irene. He is survived by his son, Dale (Mandy) Jr.of St. Petersburg, FL.; granddaughter, Kelly Stillwagon and great-granddaughter, Makenzie Stillwagon both of St. Petersburg; step-grandson, Christopher (Emily and son, Austin) Gandy of Largo; sister, Reta S. Jordan of Belleair, Florida; and numerous nieces and nephews.
