Damon Q. Hardy's Obituary
Damon Quilla Hardy, 92, of Orlando, Florida, went home to be with the Lord on July 29, 2026, in Clearwater, Florida, surrounded by family.
Damon was born July 12, 1934, in Louisville, Mississippi, to Otis and Onie Mae Hardy, one of twelve children. He made his home in Orlando for the last 50 years, where he built a life — and countless homes — rooted in faith, hard work, and love for his family.
An elite carpenter, Damon spent his life building and remodeling homes throughout Florida, working well into his 80s before retiring at 85. He took deep pride in his craftsmanship, and there was nothing he loved more than driving his family past a house he had built or remodeled, pointing out the work of his own hands.
Above all, Damon was a man of faith and prayer. He loved Jesus and served faithfully as an usher at First Orlando for decades. He prayed over his family before every meal, before every trip, and in every season of need — and those who knew him say that when Damon prayed, you felt God’s presence. His favorite hymn, "Because He Lives," reflected the quiet confidence with which he lived his faith.
Damon is survived by his wife of 63 years, Donna, whom he loved fiercely. Known for still holding hands after a lifetime together, their marriage was a picture of steadfast, enduring love.
He is also survived by four daughters: Terrie Schmidt (Brad), Carolyn Seifert (Gregg), Sharon Archambault (David), and Shirley Cobb (Brian). He was preceded in death by his daughter, Joyce Hardy.
Damon was blessed with 8 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren, all of whom he cherished.
He is further survived by his sisters, Etheleen, Betty, Carrie, Franci, and Benny Sue. He was preceded in death by his parents, Otis and Ona Mae Hardy, and his brothers, Inman, Thelbert, Bev, William, Glen, and James.
Damon also leaves behind many nieces and nephews, who loved him dearly and were loved by him in return.
Damon will be remembered as a man who loved Jesus, loved his family, and loved his work — and who showed it every single day, with hands that built and a heart that prayed.
