Dennis Brian Blysick's Obituary
Dennis Brian Blysick, a resident of Trinity, Florida, died peacefully, in hospice, at Mease Countryside Hospital, Safety Harbor, Florida on March 5th, 2019, at the age of 78. Dennis is survived by his loving wife Carolyn Rose DeCorso Blysick; his daughter Denise N. Blysick Edmunds and her husband, William J. Edmunds; his son, Dennis J. Blysick and his wife, Maryann Schettino Blysick; his brother-in-law Kenneth DeCorso; his grandsons, Ryan T. and Brendan T. McKenna; and granddog Tanner. He is preceded in death by his parents, Louis John Blysick and Julia Eileen McTigue; a sister, Maryanne Blysick, who died in infancy; and a brother, Louis John Blysick, Jr. Dennis was born on January 28, 1941 in Jersey City, NJ. He graduated from St. Anthony’s High School, Jersey City, in 1958 and briefly attended St. John’s College, in Queens, NY. He married Carolyn on April 4, 1964, at Saint Paul’s Roman Catholic Church, Jersey City, NJ. During their marriage Carolyn and Dennis, in addition to Trinity, have lived in Rutherford, East Rutherford and Mahwah, NJ; and in Tarpon Springs, FL. They still have a part time residence in Somerset, NJ. After marriage, Dennis worked for a short period of time in the offices of Continental Can. In 1968, he joined APA Transportation as a trucker where he worked for 24 years until it was necessary for him to take disability. He was a active and loyal member of Teamsters Local 617. Dennis proudly served his country in the US Army Reserves doing his active duty stint at Ft. Dix, NJ in 1962, where he gained his first “taste” for cooking. Dennis’ wife and children remember him as a devoted and caring husband and father. Among his most gratifying and fulfilling accomplishments was his encouragement and support of them in attaining their chosen career goals. Dennis loved cooking and all food. He loved preparing amazing meals for Sunday afternoon family dinners sharing laughter and debating any topic one could imagine. He loved reading the daily newspaper and watching his cooking shows, Survivor and NCIS. He was passionate about the NY Jets even through there were many disappointing seasons. He also loved playing golf with his son and grandsons. If you wish, and in lieu of flowers, please send donations in Dennis’ memory to The Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation: https://www.pulmonaryfibrosis.org/ or St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital: https://www.stjude.org/. A funeral mass is scheduled for Tuesday, March 12th, 1:00 PM at Our Lady of Lourdes Roman Catholic Church, Dunedin, FL. (http://www.ourladydunedin.org/). Later this spring, per Dennis’s instructions, there will be a “Celebration of Life” event in his memory in New Jersey, the date time and specific location to be determined.
