Diane Reimer Eddy's Obituary
Diane Reimer Eddy, aged 67, of Tarpon Springs, Florida died on Thursday, November 12, 2024 in Bay Care Alliant Hospital, Dunedin, Florida. Diane is survived by her beloved husband of 31 years, Stanley R. Eddy II; and her son, Maxwell A. Eddy. Diane was predeceased by her parents, Joseph M. Reimer and Lois Mae Engles; her brother, Steve; and sister, Kathy. She will be sorely missed by her sister, Michele; niece Gillian; nephews, Joe and Cody; and grandniece, Hailey.
Diane was born on September 10, 1957 in Crystal, Minnesota. Diane graduated from Armstrong Senior High School in 1975, and a few years later, she and her sister, Michele, joined their parents to begin a new adventure living on Honeymoon Island, Dunedin, Florida.
Diane’s many careers focused on meeting people’s needs. Her first job was in sales – a natural fit! Then Diane went on to waitressing and managing the Big Apple Deli in Dunedin and working at Publix in the Deli Dept. Diane was a great chef which led her to cook and serve lunches at Tarpon Springs High School and then form her own business to cater luncheons and dinners for private events. As a member of the Coastal Compass Rose Chicks, Diane learned to sew and created beautiful Bowl Nests, Ditty Bags and Passport Organizers which were sold in many Craft Fairs across Florida. More recently, Diane spent many hours and days caring for her dear friends during the last months and days of their lives.
In addition to her weekly activities, Diane participated in Tarpon Springs community events including First Fridays, Concerts on the Beach and the Christmas Boat Parade. She loved hosting game nights and attending Kenny Chesney concerts. Diane loved to read and was an active member of the Book and Brunch Club. She also volunteered at the Tarpon Springs Shepherd Center.
Diane was an active member of the Crystal Beach Church, now the Calvary Crystal Beach Church. She served as a Deacon and was a member of the Board. Diane participated in many Bible Studies, served refreshments in the Church Cafe and was a Meet and Greet host welcoming members to services on Sundays.
Diane loved to travel. She joined family and friends for reunions in Minnesota and Christmas shopping with the Compass Rose Chicks in Ogunquit, Maine. Becoming a member of Stan’s family introduced Diane to Martha’s Vineyard and a crowd of welcoming cousins. For 20+ years Diane dearly loved her visits to the Fenton Camp, the Carlson House, South Beach, Gay Head (now Aquinnah), Menemsha and the annual CEW Bash.
However, the trips that Diane treasured the most were shared with her greatest love, Stan. Visiting many islands in the Caribbean and Jamaica several times, they relaxed and explored the natural beauty of the beaches, rainforests and waterfalls, making life-long friendships, enjoying the reggae music and toasting to the joy of life.
Diane will be remembered for her welcoming smile, infectious laugh, strong hugs, her ever-present camera capturing every moment, her strength during challenging times, and her ability to make people feel like they were not strangers but rather someone very special. She will be missed by people throughout the U.S., Canada and Great Britain.
