Diego J. Randazzo's Obituary
Diego J. Randazzo "Randy", 92, of Belleair Beach, FL passed away Tuesday, October 21, 2025 at Bay Pines VAMC. Diego was born April 19, 1933 in New York City to Luigi and Rosa (Leonardo) Randazzo.
Diego dedicated 45 years to serving his country, 30 in the US Army, (CW4) and 15 years as a Foreign liaison officer. He was stationed mainly overseas, in Italy, and proudly served his country in Headquarters, Headquarters Troop, 3rd Squadron, 11th Armored Cavalry Regiment (the Legendary Blackhorse Regiment) in the Vietnam War in 1968 - 1969. He was a Life Member of the 11th ACVVC.
He received multiple awards and recognitions for service, including, a letter from the President for his 45 years, Meritorious Unit Citation(1OLC), Air Force Outstanding Unit Award (2OLC) and a Bronze Star (1OLC), along with many others. After Diego retired, he moved back state side in 2000, where he enjoyed his time on the beach.
Besides his parents, Diego is preceded in death by his wife, Anna, who passed away in 2003 after 43 years of marriage. He is survived by son, Marco; daughter, Grazia and 2 grandsons, Michele and Luca.
A memorial service will be held at the Bay Pines VAMC at a later date. All Blackhorse Troopers in the Clearwater, Florida area are urged to attend his services.
